Hot in Hollywood!

Welcome to Disney's Hollywood Studios!  I was already taking pictures in the parking lot because they were so excited.  I was also shocked they were holding hands considering that at 9 AM it was already in the high 80's and we were already sweating before getting on the tram!
This picture is for Evan's friends Noah and Joshy and their collective love for the Weird Al song Yoda.  And if you know the song, I'm sure it is now stuck in your head, just like it was in mine all morning.  You're welcome.
So this time we decided not to fool around and got straight to the big rides.  We didn't have a fast pass for the Rockin' Rollercoaster and knew that line only gets longer as the day goes on so we went there first.
Ally was excited but nervous.  Evan was more just nervous.  This is the before picture and they are both so distracted because of nerves!
This is the during photo.  I bought it because it may just be my favorite photo of my family of all time.  Seriously, look at my kids.  Ally looks horrified but was actually fine.  Evan looks horrified because he was genuinely terrified!
Ally got off and said "let's do that again!".  Evan got off and said "I'm never doing that again!  EVER!"  and then he cried!  My poor baby.  But I told him how proud of him I was for trying it and he was feeling pretty good about himself all day.  And happy that he would never have to do it again!

Figuring we needed something a little more tame, we headed over to the drawing class.  We have done this every year and I love having a collection of the drawings every year!  Here we are waiting to go inside (and I'm actually in a photo!!!!!)
All ready to draw.  They were both excited and ready to try, but it turned south pretty quickly...  Evan got very frustrated and was afraid he was "the worst one in the whole room!".  I was feeling pretty bad for him at this point because he was not having the greatest morning....
Here are the finished products!  Betty said her Minnie Mouse was a bit malnourished because her head was so small!
This is Ally's.   This kid has come a long way and she LOVED her drawing.  Super proud of her.
This is Evan's, with a little help.  (I drew in the eyes).  He got frustrated before finishing off the details....
And flipped the paper over and drew me a bunch of trees instead.  I loved it.
This is mine, which is pretty good considering I spent quite a bit of time trying to help Evan.
And of course the architect and family show off:  (love you honey...)
After this, we had a fast pass for the Tower of Terror.  This ride has plagued Ally for years - she wants to go but as soon as we get close she chickens out and changes her mind.  So we decided before hand (with her) that we were going to do this ride no matter what.  I'm glad we made the decision before hand because she cried the entire way through the line and at one point just refused to move to the next part of the ride because she was so scared.  I personally HATE this ride and I was being all brave for my girl but as soon as we were about to drop I told her "I love you very much but right at this moment I don't really like you!" which made her laugh.  And here is the photo proof that Allison FINALLY road the Tower of Terror Ride:
It's a little hard to see us, so here is a close up of my terrified daughter (and me with my eyes closed because did I mention I HATE this ride?)
She thanked us over and over and over for making her go and I was convinced the hardest part of our vacation was behind us!  We then had lunch at the Sci Fi Drive In Diner.  All the tables are built to look like cars and you sit in the "drive in" watching terrible old movie previews.  The kids loved it.
We were also pretty thrilled because it was dark and cool in there.  Did I mention it was in the 90's today?  Us NH folk are not used to this kind of heat yet....
After lunch we went to Star Tours.  Finally, a ride Evan liked.  This is also the ride that I think did me in for the day.  It is a 3D ride that bounces you around and I started to feel nauseous from the minute we left....
Evan using the Force to try to make me feel better.  I think his evil Darth helmet had the opposite reaction...
Ally has an R2-D2 set of ears so she was thinking maybe she needs the set!
Next we went to Muppet Vision 3D.  I think our goal was to just stay anywhere we could sit and was air conditioned for the afternoon - it was soooo hot!
Stopped by San Francisco on the way out?!
My kids liked being action figures.
The last ride we went on was Toy Story Mania.  Probably the best in this park - you play in pairs shooting at toys with a toy pop gun and the ride moves you through different screens and keeps score.  They were so excited for this one.
Evan wanted to compete with Nana and he promised "to go easy on her"!
Ally decided to ride with Grampy.
Which means I got this guy.  Oh, and I whopped his butt, btw....
After, in keeping with the notion of sitting and cool, we went to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, which is a little stage show that is air conditioned and has comfy seats.  Almost took a nap there....  Followed by the Indiana Jones stunt show.
This was a cool show with lots of explosives.  Did I mention how hot it was?  You could feel the fire even though it was so far away.
We left the park around 6 and they are still smiling!  Definitely a good day!

Tomorrow:  Magic Kingdom!
