Today's blog entry is brought to you by Arron. **except for the parts between stars by Christine editing after the fact!** (It's also brought to you by the Letters "W," T" and "F?" ;) ) **wimp!** Originally we had scheduled one of two character breakfasts options for this morning for Evan, since Ally got the Princess meal on Mother's Day. Evan decided he wanted to eat Breakfast with the Disney Junior characters later in the week at the Hollywood Studios, so we started the day with a quick breakfast at McDonald's and then it was on to the Animal Kingdom!
As always, we made a bee-line to the Africa Section of the park and got right in line for the Kilimanjaro Safaris. Evan brought along is own wildlife...We actually got to see a lot of the animals, and many of them almost seemed to be posing for the camera. (Usually, it seems like we get a lot of animals hiding or showing us their back side...) We got to see the giraffees
And the elephants...
**and a lot of other animals that I got cool pics of but was too lazy to upload. And I really like giraffes and elephants. ** After the safari ride, Evan told us that he was "never going on THAT ride again." The excuse this time was that it was too bumpy and it smelled. Boy, there is no pleasing this kid! ;) Evan then proceeded to have a complete meltdown, so we decided to forgo both the Nature Walk/Animal Trails and the Train ride out to Rafiki's Planet Watch, and instead try to find something Evan might find more palatable. We decided to head towards Dinoland, and since Ally REALLY wanted to ride Everest we'd pick up some FastPasses since our iPhone Apps said it had a 40 minute wait.
(Girl wants to ride Everest and see a Yeti!) Imagine our surprise when we walked by and saw that the Stand-By wait time was only 20 minutes! Christine, Ally and I jumped into the line while Evan, Nana and Grampy forged on to Dinoland.
Here's Ally as the ride first starts. Mostly Calm... **says the guy sitting behind her... she was freaking out with her nails in my arm at this point!**
Great view of the park from near the top of the 2nd hill climb...
Uh oh. Technical Difficulties. On behalf of the Walt Disney Company, we'd like to Thank You for visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom today. Please gather all personal belongings, take small children by the hand, and exit your ride vehicle to you left. Oh, and watch out for that first step! **which is even funnier because at this point you sit a few seconds and then start to go backward. Except we didn't. We just sat there. Long enough for someone else on the ride to say what Arron typed above. Just when we thought the ride might really be in trouble is when it finally started to roll backwards!**
Yep, we survived the Yeti and had fun. At least I think that's Ally's "fun face." **notice below - she makes that face on every major ride. seriously.**
Meanwhile Evan was having a ball on the Dinosaur Dumbo Clone. Grampy almost always can be talked into going on this ride with either grandchild. When we caught up to the other half of our group, Ally convinced Nana and Momma to go on the Primeval Whirl Roller Coaster. **for the record, Nana is TERRIFIED of any roller coaster type ride and was freaking out the whole time**
I'm pretty sure that isn't Nana's "Fun Face...." **but I'm pretty sure I'm going to send this one to her friends!**
After Ally wanted to ride again, so I went on coaster with her, and everyone else went to play the midway games with Evan. Here's one of the stuffed animals he won. **mom won. We played 3 games and only the top winner gets a prize. After playing himself and loosing one game he picked his opponents carefully - the younger the better - and made me play. So naturally we came back with 2 stuffed animals.**
Ally then wanted a go at the games. Here she is at the ball toss...that toss won her a little stuffed animal.
Evan was unsuccessful, and broke down crying. However, he recovered quickly and he gave Momma his extra ticket and asked her to win him "a big one." **and I'm thinking "oh crap" because people don't win at this game for a reason. And even if I do win, if it is little he's gonna be mad. So after a "talk" about loosing, I take the ticket. Wouldn't you know on the last toss I win the big snake? This kid has never been happier in his little life. And I was so relieved that I didn't ruin the whole day!**
Mission Accomplished. Ally then needed to play another game. She went over to the "Wooly Mammoth" race where you roll a ball like in ski-ball and the hole it lands in tells it how far to go. She raced against a little boy and won a small purple turtle, similar to the one Evan is holding a few pictures up. While Ally was celebrating her win, the little boy (about Evan's age) was crying because he had lost. Ally went and got the small animal that Evan had won for her **mom won** and gave it to the little boy. He was very happy and thanked her. We were all very proud of her for doing that.
Next up was a trip on Dinosaur. Grampy and Evan sat this one out...
Not quite sure how the Picture happened to catch a "bored" looking Ally since she was screaming and laughing through most of this ride... **That's not bored. That's terrified. She clawed my arm right after this because it's when the T-Rex comes out.**
Next was an autograph with Goofy and Pluto, **not pictured here was Evan running up and giving Pluto the biggest hug ever. I guess he likes these guys!**
before moving on to "It's tough being a bug." Nana, Ally and Momma went on this ride. Since "Dark," "3D" and "Evan" don't mix, Evan and Daddy went and got autographs of Russell and Dug from "Up." **And this was the one show that Ally didn't like. There are "bugs" that move under and behind you and spiders that come down from the ceiling, and she was in tears by the end. Glad we could terrify both kids in one trip.**
We then went over to Camp Minnie-Mickey to get some autographs. Donald had a short line and Evan almost tackeled him with his hug. He has still been concerned that Donald was alright after seeing Mickey's Philharmagic in the Magic Kingdom on Saturday where Donald gets "put through the back wall of the theater." Donald was fine and signed autographs and posed of pictures. **He forgot to mention that Evan was so excited he almost took Donald DOWN. Most enthusiastic hug ever. Notice how little Donald is - Ally had to bend over for the photo!**
Evan, Grampy and Daddy went back to the hotel to jump in the pool while Momma, Ally and Nana went back to Everest to ride it a 2nd time. Nana went through the line, but chickened out at the end when it was time to board.
Yep, there's that "Fun Face" again... Ally decided to get her hair wrapped also before heading back tothe hotel to meet up with "the boys."
If you get caught by the parade and can't get out, well you might as well watch it! ;) **And I'm not a big fan of parades, but the animal puppets were just beautiful!**
After getting back to the hotel and joining us at the pool for 15 minutes, we were all kicked out because of thunder and lightening storms (Good Reason!!) We all went back to T-Rex for dinner. Talk about great timing, we were able to be seated immediately! **I love this place. I love things that glow. I even got a drink that glows. Which is why I was too tired to update the blog!!!!**
After dinner we decided to call it a night and went back to the hotel to try and catch up on some sleep. No plans yet for what to do tomorrow. Studios perhaps? Or maybe the World Showcase portion of Epcot? **Thank you honey. This is my favorite post yet. You rock.**
