Ring of Fire

Ok, this is annoying... this is the 2nd time I've written this post. I lost the entire first one when I hit the publish button - the computer lost the wireless connection here. Grrrr.... especially annoying because I was so excited to get to bed tonight! Ugh. I'll try to remember what I wrote, but forgive me if this isn't my most coherent post... So today we went to MGM studios. I know looking back that we must have been exhausted today. First, I took a lot less photos. Second, the ones I took weren't all that good today. And third, in almost all of them, Ally is holding her curl. She even made it pose for this one (her words, not mine): We started off at the Little Mermaid show. We actually ran right in when we got there - that actually was our M.O. all day - no lines! The park was almost dead all day long, and we almost never waited anywhere. After the Little Mermaid, we went across the the walkway to see an animation exhibit. Ally was more interested in the super shiny trashcan.
Until we got thru the first part and into the second, where they had computers for the kids to play with. She got to see what character she was most like
but I'm not so sure she liked the answer!
We also posed with Mr & Mrs Incrediable, although this time she was afraid and needed me to hold her. At least she let go of the curl....
Last year, that was as far as we got because the lines were so long. But there was a whole other portion to the exhibit - it was a drawing studio! They show you how to draw different Disney characters. We all learned to draw Donald.
Here are our sketches in no particular order, starting with Betty's: (who has the most movie star signature of all of us)
Arthur's (which apparantly needs no signature)
Mine:
Ally's (that was done with only a little help from her mom and dad) And the best of the bunch, Arron's: (which if I got to draw for a living mine would be the best too....)Afterward, we went thru the Narnia exhibit (which if you have seen the movie, I would skip. It is a glorified trailer with a live action witch that came out and yelled at us - not all that impressed....) and an exhibit on Walt himself. Right when we walked in, we were given a surprise! We won lanyards with collectable pins as part of the 1 Million Dreams promotion. It's not a night in the castle or anything, but it was still kinda cool. And just wait until next week on ebay to see how collectable those babies are! :) After, on our way to lunch we ran into KIM POSSIBLE! With that kind of excitement, you would think we had actually seen the show, huh? Yeah, not so much. We don't even get the Disney channel. But Kim Possible is the character on her glasses right at the temple, and Ally talks to Kim all the time. So we had to get a picture with her:
Ally showed them her glasses too, and they were floored. They probably thought we were the biggest fans ever... hee...hee.... Anyway, next we went for lunch, and while we were waiting for Grampy and Daddy to get back with food, I took this picture of Ally and her new friend Sunset. (name was on the tag....). Ally got Sunset last night at the Rainforest Cafe, and she is her new best friend. This is probably my favorite picture of the day. Curl and all.
After lunch, we went to Muppets 3D, and Ally kept her glasses on the entire time! Talk about progress! After that, we decided to head back to the hotel for some swim time. We just caught one more ride on the way out - Star Tours! I hadn't been before I don't think - it is like the Back to the Future ride at Universal - screen makes you feel like you are moving while they bounce and bop you around, and you leave with a headache. In other words, Ally LOVED it. Such a ride girl.... Then we rushed to our bus stop to wait for 1/2 an hour. We definately have not had good bus luck this week. But at least I had a chance to take a picture of Ally modeling her million dollar... I mean dreams... lanyard.
When we got back to the hotel, we went straight for the pool. I would have loved to show you pictures of her mad swimming skills, but she seemed to have only packed her mad sinking skills today. She could barely stay up long enough for a breath.... But she did have enough energy to run thru the hotel lobby with her towel tied around her neck. Go super Ally! Then we took a much needed NAP. It was too short though - we hopped back on the bus to head back to MGM to catch the firework/waterwork show. Once we got there, I noticed Ally had developed a really bad rash all over her body. We're still not sure what the culprit is, but it wasn't itchy or anything so we kept on going. We took her on the Great Movie Ride, which I thought was a good way to kill some time. Forgot that it had a mobster movie scene and a scene from Alien. Oops. Good thing the kid is fearless, huh? She was only a little bothered and overall loved it. :) After a quick bite to eat at one of the outdoor facilities, we headed in to see Fantasmic - the MGM night show. Ally learned how to do the wave while waiting, so that's always good.
It was more of a water show than a firework show with lots of colored lights and flowing water. But it was quite beautiful.
And what can you say about a show that lights it's pond on fire? Awesome, that's what you say....
Too bad right as the show ended the skies opened up and poured down on us. Good thing we didn't sit in the wet seats for the show, huh? We RAN to the bus stop only to have to wait another 15 minutes in the rain. What can you do? Dance in the rain. And that is exactly what Ally and I did to entertain ourselves. We were all already drenched anyway, so it was just fun. Plus I hoped it might wash off anything that could be bothering her skin. We did get her some benedryl (that she would only eat a piece of the dose) so hopefully it won't be bad tomorrow - otherwise we've been advised to keep her cool and covered. Yeah, no problem in FLORIDA. Although I'm sure she'll be fine. Thanks for reading, I'll be back tomorrow. Hopefully more coherent.... Goodnight!
