Friday 6/24/22 Magically avoiding the Heat

The heat continues but we brave the parks for the Magic Kingdom!

Knowing it was going to be crazy hot today, we spent the money on the Lightning Lanes.  It also opens up a bunch of filters that we visited while stuck in lines…
So this is my view most of the time.  I have the shortest legs in my family and the shortest stride so I’m always left in the dust even if I’m jogging!  Jokes on them - I always have the most steps!😆
We jump d in the regular line for Thunder Mountain while waiting for our haunted mansion lightning lane.
One of my favorite things is taking pics of the kids on roller coasters - they are just the best.  So they always sit right behind me!
See?
So much joy!
Giggling the whole way!
Just the best.  😁

Little did we know we would be back…
Next our haunted mansion fast pass - so much better….
I see you!
I really didn’t have any interesting pics here.  My phone isn’t great.  Next to small World.  It was the regular line so we started playing with the filters…
Ally looks like a rockstar.
She makes them all beautiful.
Evan is such a ham, his pics are the best.  This genie one he called “Megamind”
Normal hades….
And my favorite!!🤣🤣🤣
Family shot in the boat!
I feel like the dolls here look better on camera than in real life.  It’s pretty, but the photos are vibrant!
Quick iconic pic on the way out!
Our next fast pass was for the Pirates of the Caribbean, and I could get used to this faster lane stuff.  Barely had time to take any pics on the walk in!
They did put all 4 of us in one row and we are a little on the large side for that - it was cozy to say the least.  By the end, I felt like these guys - ready to get out!
Boys….
Next was our lunch reservation at the Skippers Canteen (or something like that).  It’s the restaurant to go with the Jungle cruise.  The first thing the waiter said was “let me show you some of the hi-lights here. There’s one.  There’s another.”  He was pointing at the chandeliers.  I knew we had found Evan’s new favorite place.
I won’t bore you with food pics, but the winning dish was Arron’s - he got the Hardy Har Char and you had to tell a joke to order it.  We scandalized the waitress with the “why does the ocean roar?” joke.  I will share dessert pics though because they were pretty!  This was Ally’s (but I don’t know what it actually is…)
Evan and I got the Kungaloosh.  Highly recommend.
Oh the joke?  “You would too if you had crabs on your bottom!”

FYI, Ally did not get any double meaning until this moment, which was way funnier than the joke itself.

Quick pretty castle pic on the way out!
Out you ask?  Because it was hotter than Hades today and we couldn’t take the 99 feels like 110 degrees with 89% humidity anymore.  We all went home and took a NAP.  Glorious.

When we woke up, it had been pouring rain for hours.  Nap time for the win.  We took a wet trip back to Magic Kingdom.
We were hoping “wet” meant “less crowded”.  It was still muggy as all get out, but at least the temp was now high 70’s.
Tonight we played the genie plus game.  We had 2 booked (because of the time since we left) and we piggybacked them all night.  Starting with Space Mountain!
Barely got a line pic because we were right up front pretty quick!
First time I’ve ridden in years…
And now I remember why!  That one was fun but rough.  The best part was listening to Ally scream like a crazy banshee!🤣. Picked up a genie plus for Buzz light year for RIGHT NOW so a total win.
Next one I could get for NOW was the Barnstormer so Evan got a pretty donuts and we headed over.
I love the rainbows of pride month.  I mean pride but also rainbows!  Rainbows 🌈!

We are definitely crowded on this ride - it was hilarious getting in and out!  Ally wanted a little mermaid ride and there was no wait so we hit that one quick
As well as a quick bathroom break.  It’s a shame that the prettiest movie (Tangled) is relegated to a bathroom.
While walking, we got a fast pass for Splash Mountain for RIGHT NOW.  Damn, this lightning lane stuff is the best.
We were on the ride during the fireworks - which if you weren’t moving so fast would have been really cool.
Because people were at the fireworks, we could walk on to Thunder Mountain!  Arron’s back was sore so he passed, but the 3 of us jumped on!
So much harder to get these pics at night!
But WOW this is so much prettier in the lights!
We got a Peter Pan lightning lane for 10:30 but we still had like 30 minutes to kill.  Without many options and being pretty tired, we jumped in to the hall of presidents.
Watch out for the crowds folks.
Although this is always better than I remember.  Funny they stuck Trump in the back.
Finally, Peter Pan!  I haven’t been on this one in a few trips because the line is always weirdly long.  But also very pretty.
We got out with 10 minutes before park close - so we jumped in line for the 7 Dwarf’s Minetrain because as long as you are in line at closing time, you are in!  Which meant we only missed a few rides overall today.  A very impressive feat, all things considered.
And of course the castle at night.  From behind:
And from the front.
It’s a late night.  Tomorrow is going to be rough!  Tomorrow:  Hollywood Studios again!
